2022 Was a Good Year Overall!

I managed to put up a review of my finished projects from the year. I am sure I missed a few, however the video reflects everything I had taken pictures of.

As per my usual self, I went through a lot of changes, and so did my channel and my website. What’s life if we aren’t learning anything?

Having not set extravagant goals for myself which I would never have lived up to, I still finished a project per week! Go me.

There were great things that happened along the way, like losing over 20 pounds and several sizes down.

My plan this year is to keep on keeping on. Keep on being me. Doing what I can when I can and enjoying each moment.

Happy New Year!

Seeing Double Crochet Mystery Shawl CAL Clue #4 and #5

I have a playlist for the Clues which you can access here: Seeing Double Crochet Shawl Mystery CAL

**Please note that some of the videos do also contain True Crime discussion.

Here is a written description of the Clues:

Clue #4: Row 1. (Increase Side) Ch 3, Turn. Triple Crochet ( yarn over twice, insert hook, pull up a loop, pull through two loops on the hook, yarn over, pull through remaining two loops on the hook) in the same stitch. Triple crochet in each stitch across. Triple crochet in top of chain at the end of the row. Row 2. Ch 3, turn, Triple crochet in the next stitch and across, Triple crochet in chain at the end of the row. Repeat row 1 and 2 twice more. 6 rows of triple crochet.

Clue #5: This is a general guide for finishing the rows.

If you are color blocking each clue in a separate color, you will now reverse the colors. This will create the intention of the shawl, which is to see it in double, or mirroring the work.

You will now work the sections (or clues) in reverse. Clue #4 will be in the center, and you will go back the other way to where you started.

So the order should be: Clue 1, Clue 2, Clue 3, Clue 4, Clue 3, Clue 2, Clue 1.

And of course the color combinations and yarns you use are totally up to you!

I will see you for the final step, Clue #6, which will be the edging!

Have fun today!

Seeing Double Crochet Mystery Shawl CAL Clues #1 and # 2

Here is where you will find the updates for the beginner friendly shawl I am doing with my daughter Chelsey!

I am so proud that both of my daughters are crocheters. Chelsey is also a knitter, but new to crochet. So we thought it would be good to do a crochet along together using some basic crochet stitches.

Crazy Days of Summer!

Well the heat is here. Not loving it, lol. I am having to get up much earlier to go walking, also not loving it, haha.

However, we have a new member of the family! Meet, Cerberus. He is a 5 year old Border Pit, Border Collie and Pit mix.

Cerberus

What a sweet lovable boy he is! And between him and Duke I am being more motivated to walk everyday!

Duke

I picked up Cerberus this last weekend while on a trip to attend the Crochet/Knit Addicts of North Texas Facebook Group monthly meeting. It just happened to be on the same day as World Wide Knit/Crochet in Public Day!

Me at Starbucks in Plano Texas

We had such a great meeting! Stay tuned for more on the next project we will be doing!

How is your summer going?

Baby It’s Cold And Let’s Catch Up!!

Well it’s been a hot minute since I posted. However I am not letting the grass grow under my feet over here! Haha!

I finished two hats….

Custom order #1.
Custom order #2.

I finished this cowl and am working on a tutorial for it.

The yarn for the cowl is a lovely cotton from Made In America Yarns. One of their lines called Florafil. It’s so light and fluffy for a bulky cotton! Love it.

The Be “Squared “ CAL is gaining speed! We have 11 squares under our belt now!

And here’s a sneak peak at my first go at designing a shawl!

It should be going out to testers soon! So exciting!!

Stay warm everyone! Spring is coming 😊

Reconstructing Patterns

So I had a great visit with the neighbor while visiting my Dad here in Colorado. She is so good to him by always sending over treats and cooked meals.

I know she is a crafter but this is the first time we have gotten to sit and work on something.

She has a blanket her grandmother made all the kids for their weddings. She is wanting to make one for her daughter as well. Of course, it is a vintage pattern.

So we got started with her reading the stitches she saw in the finished piece, and me trying to reproduce it.

Turns out we did a really good job! She found the closet pattern to it online and is now making some as well!

The closet pattern we could find is a Vintage Rose Afghan by McCalls circa 1978 or so.

I plan to do one of these as well, when my wip pile and Christmas projects are done!

Not in the house!

Found behind a door!

So my day started out pretty okay and then dissa happened! Lol 😂. (If you are a Star Wars fan you will get that line!)

I have begun my new cleaning schedule today. First up is the bathroom.

Now this cleaning schedule is not just your average everyday cleaning. I do the dishes every night before bed. And I make the bed everyday. (Which is a new habit for me . And I highly recommend it, as it really does get the day going.) And I have to vacuum at least once a week because we let our big dogs in every afternoon , in the summer especially.

So what does this have to do with knitting or crochet? I have started this new schedule in order to be more organized with my day. If I am doing a little something each day, I will feel less guilty about the amount of time I am spending crafting!

At least this is how my brain is going at the moment 😃. I have set up my Happy Planner to follow this schedule.

And I am carrying my Happy Planner Classic Notebook as a catch all and ‘ brain dump’ space around the house.

Once I do a deep clean of each room, this schedule will go faster and become more of a habit as well. At least, that’s the plan!

Stay tuned for more as I tweak this schedule to work better for me . And I can begin to adapt it for my maker life as well 🙂.
